How to use Public/Private Key Pairs to secure SSH on CentOS

This topic can be quite complex to explain if ones delves deep. This post aims to provide a quick step-by-step guide

Mainly there are three steps:

The system is now setup!! Try the follwoing command on your local machine and if all goes well, you should connect to the remote server without having to enter a password.

ssh username@servername

Note: If you are using non-standard port for SSH, use the following command instead:

ssh -p <YOUR_SSH_PORT_NUMBER> username@servername
